    Roster amendments or changes to registration due by June 5tht, 2024.

    *Limited spots available. Completing online team pre-registration is the only way to reserve your spot for the event. Rules & Regulation form is to be completed and signed by corresponding participants and or legal guardians at registration. Prior to event, participants agree to notify Uptown Hoops of any amendments to team roster, even if post June 5th amendment deadline.

    Refund and Amendment Policy:

    After online pre-registration is complete, no refunds are issued. Partial refunds may be issued in the event the entire event is cancelled and/or postponed. All requests for amendments or changes in information provided to Uptown Hoops, Inc. during the registration process needs to be made prior to the deadline of June 5th, 2024.

  • Rules & Regulations:

    o Weather- Games are to be played Rain or Shine unless otherwise determined by Uptown Hoops, Inc.

    o Basket Height – 10 Feet, except 8 Feet for Youth Divisions [1st-4th Grades]

    o Free Throw – 15 Feet

    o 2 Point Range – 19 Feet

    o 2 Point Range – 19 Feet

    o Basketball Sizes

    o Youth divisions are to play with ‘Youth’ sized basketballs.

    o Women’s, & Co-Ed divisions are to play with ‘Women’s’ sized basketballs.

    o Men’s & Boy’s High School divisions are to play with a “Men’s” sized basketballs.

    o Teams may substitute their like-sized ball for gameplay if only approved by both teams.

    o First possession of the game is determined by rock paper scissors (best of three).

    o Jump Ball- possession awarded go the team that lost the opening rock paper scissors.

    o Alternating possessions thereafter.

    o Change of Possession:

    o Ball must be “brought back’ and cross the tape extended beyond the top of the key.

    o The ball is to be ‘brought back’ each change of possession.

    o The ball is to be ‘checked up’ after each scoring change of possession or dead ball.

    o Timeouts – 1, 30 second-long timeout per team, per game. Clock stops during timeout.

    o Player Substitutions- Dead Ball or Time Out

    o Fouls:

    o Call your own fouls, specifically the person being fouled.

    o Court Monitor overrules any call.

    o A shooting foul results in a free throw attempt.

    § If shot attempt was in ‘2point range’ then player being fouled is awarded 2 free throws. If shot attempt was in ‘1 point range’ then player being fouled is awarded 1 free throw.

    § No rebound line-up. Players stand behind free-throw shooter.

    § Clock runs during free throws unless last 30 seconds of game.

    § Free throw attempt should take no longer than 15 seconds.

    o If a participant is suspected of ‘delaying the game’:

    o 1: A Single Warning will be issued to both teams.

    o 2. If not corrected, game forfeited by team that is ‘delaying game’.

    o Crowd/Fans- Only the Team Captains or Coach are allowed to address Court Monitors regarding a call or the competition. The game shall consist of 1 Court Monitor who has ultimate say on any call within a game and keeps track of the game clock.

    o Tape is placed as a mark for the ‘2 point’ range shots, ‘free throws’, and the top out of bounds mark for ‘checking the ball’ and ‘bringing it back’ in transition of possessions.

    o Sidelines are not marked, but Court Monitor’s discretion decides whether a play is ‘in bounds’.

    o Each team consists of a minimum of 3 players, with 1 substitute for a maximum of 4 players. At least one female must be present on the court AT ALL TIMES during any Co-Ed play.

    o Games are subject to 25 minutes of playtime, unless either team reaches 21 points. Winner must win by a margin of at least 2 points if score of 21 is reached. When the 25 minutes of game time runs out, the team with the highest score wins; regardless of the margin.

    o [In the event of a ‘tie’ or ‘overtime’ and each team has the same score after regular gameplay, there will be a sudden death overtime scenario. The team to take the first possession within an overtime scenario will be determined by rock paper scissors (best of three). The first team to score within overtime is determined the winner.]

    Authorized Equipment:

    All participants must be able to participate in proper equipment. No player shall be allowed to wear a guard, cast, hard brace or other potentially dangerous equipment on their body. Unless they pose a risk of danger to other participants; soft braces, sleeves and wraps will be allowed during games. Things such as rings, necklaces, hair bands and clips will not be allowed during gameplay. Uptown Hoops, Inc. reserves the right to disallow any equipment or apparel that is deemed to be dangerous or inappropriate.

  • Sportsmanship:

    The undersigned agrees to the following: Respect the game, play fairly, and follow all rules and policies. Accept the decisions of officials and site directors with good grace. Demonstrate good sportsmanship before, during, and after games, win or lose. Represent oneself, the team, and the program in a positive demeanor. Be responsible for the sportsmanship of myself and teammates. And assist in maintaining a respectful environment for all participants. Be courteous to opposing teams, parents, spectators, officials, monitors, or facilitators and treat all with respect. Help to maintain and keep all equipment and conditions at the facility/park in good condition. Obey all facility rules, while respecting all equipment, common areas, playing areas, parking areas, and surrounding neighborhoods. Refrain from the use of abusive language or profanity. Not engage in any behavior which would endanger the health, safety, or wellbeing of any player, official, staff member, parent, or spectator. Not engage in verbal, written, or physical threats or abuse aimed at any participant, official, staff member, or spectator. Not initiate a fight, scuffle, or exchange with any individual (including but not limited to: pushing, shoving, punching, kicking, etc.). Not use alcoholic beverages or illegal drugs at any location. Wear/use all required and issued equipment and/or uniforms. The decision of the officials and/or site director is final.
