Business Background

In 1953, Tom and Mary Kenneally launched Town Pump as a small full-service gas station in Butte, Montana. They introduced quirky but effective practices, such as timing oil changes with a wristwatch. In 1966, Town Pump became Montana's first to offer Self-Service gasoline, defying skeptics and embracing innovation. The 1970s brought the Oil Crisis, challenging Town Pump's survival, but a successful petition to import oil from Canada saved the day.

The 1980s marked a period of expansion, with Town Pump reinvesting in convenience stores and navigating market changes. In the 1990s, the company diversified into truck stops, car washes, hotels, delis, and gaming operations, embodying the "Whole Package" concept. Today, Town Pump operates over 200 properties in Montana and Idaho, offering a range of services and goods. Their commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction has positioned them as industry leaders in the region.
